1st Mob Alumni Reunion, Santa Fe, New Mexico, October 2019Subject: 1st Mob Reunion
So sorry I have not updated everyone on our great Santa Fe reunion. I think it was enjoyed by all, certainly by Rita & me.
Tours were great an the company the best. I know our host appreciates us all getting together.
Some new brothers from our Germany location attended and were welcomed into our Mob culture that we have enjoyed for many years.
Just to let you know, we may get to go back to Tucson next year. Daryl Amans of Tucson says he will give it a try and I am sure if at all possible he will host another great reunion. A couple of tours there are great. Daryl is a good host as all will remember
him Back in the early 2000’s. Looking forward to being there. Please put this on your event calendar and we’ll be getting back to you later.
I hope all are doing well and continue to be so. Keep all the new mobsters in your thoughts and try hard to be with us again.

Over South China Sea June 1965 - searching for B52 crash survivors Contributed by Jim Poole
In June,1965 two B-52s, in the first actual combat mission, flying from Guam to Vietnam crashed together over the South China Sea.
1st Mob volunteers manned C130s flying grids for two days looking for survivors.
The upper rear door was opened leaving the lower door in place. We wore a safety strap and parachute and took 30 minute post laying prone and staring down at the ocean from the rear door.
The attached was made from the aircraft I was in. Shadow is of our aircraft looking straight down at the ocean from the rear door.Mar 26, 2016

On Gemini 5 we stopped overnight in Port Moresby, New Guinea. Slept under the C124 rather than staying in town. On other trips we would fly to Guam, then Townsville, Australia and on to Perth the last day. I think top speed on a C124 is about 300 mph. We spent a lot of time in the air.Mar 26, 2016

MGC-2A Comm Van moving to Site - Jim Poole - Dalat, Vietnam Sept 1966Contributed by Jim Poole
On the day we landed at Cam Lie airstrip (PSP surface) outside of Dalat it was late afternoon. Rather than risk pulling the van through three or so miles of mountain roads it was decided to leave it in the fuel dump area at the airstrip. There were three South Vietnamese bunkers for protection however someone with clearance had to stay with the van. I stayed with the power guy, A1c Suttles. Needless to saw we did not have a problem staying awake.Mar 26, 2016
