The current 1st Combat Communications Squadron, is the direct descendant of the 1 st Airways and Air Communications Service Squadron (Mobile) - Activated 1 March 1952

1967 -- AF Times, dated 30 Aug 1967: CLARK AB, RP - For the THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR, the 1st Mobile Communications Gp. here has received the AF Outstanding Unit Award. During 1966, the group deployed 141 teams, most in direct support of tactical operations in SEA. The group was cited for having to "overcome extreme living and working conditions in providing highly mobile communications and air traffic control facilities throughout the Pacific." - Contributed by Bob Thompson

2001 -- 1CCSQ ‘trains like they fight’ at Arctic Star exercise -- During Exercise Arctic Star, one of the 1st Combat Communication Squadron’s semiannual field training exercises, more than 80 members of the unit had a chance to train “like they fight.” [ A link to a USAFE News Story 2-12-01]

2002 -- Air Force Outstanding Unit Award -- Citation to accompany the award of the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award to the 32d Air Operations Group frpm 1 October 1998 to 30 June 2000.
