Special Request circa 1970-1974
Hello,
I am searching for my father who served on Clark AB in the early 70's. My mother was a Filipina who gave birth to me in Angeles City, in a community hospital. My father may have worked in one of the communication departments...not certain which one. His name is Patrick David Johnson or Johnston (sp?), he was of Irish decent. He was already married, I don't think his wife was at Clark with him so he probably lived in the barracks? I don't really know. I was born in March of 1974. So my father would have been on Clark surely in 1973 and I believe in 1974. After my mother discovered she was expecting, she and Patrick didn't see each other anymore. She didn't want to break up his marriage so she didn't pursue to keep contact with him, without realizing that I would want to make contact with him later. Anyway, somehow Patrick kept in contact with my mother because after I was born two of his friends (she doesn't remember their names) came to visit us in the hospital to see how we were doing, but that was the only time and the last, I believe, she heard from or seen them. Several months after my birth my mother met and married another service man. We left the PI when I was two years old. I know that there are literally thousands of cases and stories like my own, and I am actually one of the fortunate ones. Please, If you have any recollection or ideas on where else I can look, I would appreciate ANY help. As you can see, I don't have a d.o.b. or ss#, which would allow me to search the military's data base. The desire to meet him is beyond words of explanation...please help if you can. Thank you,Katherine |

Notes on this request: Dear Folks, Katherine realizes her quest is a long shot. She also realizes, that for personal reasons, her father may not want to make contact. She and I have an agreement, that if I do receive that kind of information, I will pass to her that he does not want to make contact, but I will not pass any contact information. This is probably a remote possibility, but I will preserve his privacy, if requested. As you can tell by reading her email, Katherine would appreciate any information you may have. Please send any information to me at

| "I have four children of my own, the youngest one just born recently this past February. With each birth, the desire and curiosity grows to know more of my own 'history'. As I said in my previous email, my mother and I were fortunate that my mother married and that her husband wanted me to leave with them when he received his transfer papers. I've heard that many children were left with family and never made it to the states with their mother. Still, even though I was blessed in that regard, I feel like there is some small chance or maybe perhaps just hope that I can at least make contact with my father. If by some miracle you locate him and he does not wish to contact me, then at least I know, it's better than not knowing." |
