| "....don't know who he was, but we did have some detached Air Force guys from Da Nang who lived with us. They unloaded the planes that landed. One day, soon after the Marines started to arrive, they stole a case of frozen steaks that were sent to the jarheads. 9 of us ate 48 steaks on a barbecue we made out of a 55 gal drum and a refrigerator grill. The Marine walking his post outside the wire, was moaning that us flyboys got all the good stuff from the Air Force." |
