Rocket Damage
Khe Sanh, Vietnam - May, 1968

"These pictures are of the TACAN at Khe Sanh that was damaged by enemy fire. I prepped the site, getting the hole dug, sand bag walls built and etc. Dave Larson, Sgt Nail and Mike Moressi brought the units in and we completed the installation. At that time I was not qualified on the TRN-17, so I left on 1 April 68 and about a month later the TACAN was hit and severely damaged. Werner Cottrill took two air conditioners and parts that Dave and Mike said they needed to repair the unit to the site. If it was determined that this was not a valid plan, Jim Nieland and myself were on the ramp at Clark with another replacement unit." - Don Deidrich
