"I helped convoy the GCA unit from Qui Nhon to Phu Cat in December, 1966. 26 miles in 6 hours. Tsgt Thompson was along as I recall, and many others I can’t remember. Why does the name “Charlie Postell” pop into my head? Seems like he was a mobile tower controller, maybe. There was a Tech Sgt ? Braden along, also.
We set up on a 3000 ft dirt (mud) runway, (not a T.O. installation), and could have thrown a rock from the GCA to the base perimeter. Most of us were either brave as hell, or not smart enough to be scared." - Sam Keener
